Trip To Stradbroke Island Assignment

Hello Everyone. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been pretty busy with school here in Australia. Just recently we went on a Year 10 field trip to Stradbroke  Island for Religion class and Geography class. We learned about the local aboriginal tribes on the island and how they survived for thousands of years out on Moreton Bay. We learned about traditional ways of hunting, dream time and sacred places around the island. Here I have 9 photos that represent how I see God represented in the natural beauty of Stradbroke Island. Enjoy:)

When I see this picture I think of God and how he is represented in the beautiful landscape of North Stradbroke Island. Straight away this picture represents peace to me. When I am feeling sad, angry or stressed this is the place I would imagine to go. Sitting on a beautiful headland looking out over the magnificent ocean watching the tide, waves and listening to the pandanus palm leaves. It helps me reflect on the amazing world God has made for me. When reflecting on how God is represented in the photo I see water, rocks and trees. God is strong like a rock and he never leaves me. Life is like the ocean it can get very rough but God always stands there and helps and never breaks or gives up on me. The water represents the peace and violence of the world. God wants us to live in peace so this calm water symbolizes that.

When I see this picture I think of God and how he is represented in the beautiful landscape of North Stradbroke Island. This photo of a kangaroo represents strength and love. God is strong and mighty but he is also very loving to humans and animals. I see myself as a child of God and he cares for me just like a kangaroo cares for her young. God has carried me through life watching me every step just like a kangaroo carries her joey in the pouch. This photo represents God because he is loving and caring just like a mother kangaroo. This photo is very special to me because I was at the back of the group being quiet and I happened to see this roo in the bushes. Special because I think lots of people walked right past it.
When I see this picture I think of God and how he is represented in the beautiful landscape of North Stradbroke Island. When I look at this picture is see beautiful sun light shining down. The sunlight is a reflection off the water. It represents the reflection I make when looking back on my life so far and how God has been so good to me. This photo shows an angle looking down on North Gorge just how God looks down from heaven on me. Or maybe not from above but from all angles because God is always with me and I honestly felt that while standing here on our field trip.
When I see this picture I think of God and how he is represented in the beautiful landscape of North Stradbroke Island. This photo shows rough water at Wail rock. The rough water represents how God looks down from heaven on the crazy world. When trying to understand the mystery of God this photo helps a lot. The world is rough and crazy just like the ocean. God tries to help and does a great job and looking at the beauty of Stradbroke it shows. Hearing the noise from wail rock it makes me think about the aboriginal people and their stories and how people call out to God for help. Either for help in life or just through prayer. Through sight and sound this picture represents God.

When I see this picture I think of God and how he is represented in the beautiful landscape of North Stradbroke Island. This is a photo I captured from Amity point looking across the bay to Brisbane. This photo is amazing because while on this rural Sand Island you can still see the big city. Even though you feel so far away from it. Straddie is only 40km as the crow flies from Brisbane CBD. Seeing this photo helps my understanding of God because sometimes it feels like God is so far away. On the other hand he seems so close to me. Just like between the city and island. It seems far but it really isn't.
When I see this picture I think of God and how he is represented in the beautiful landscape of North Stradbroke Island. This photo of the walking path represents how modern civilization and the natural environment can intervene with each other. Seeing the beautiful blue sky in the background gives an amazing back drop looking through the small pine trees. When I see this picture it reminds me of how God walks me through the path of life and always helps me. God guides me just like this path guides people through North Gorge. This picture truly represents my understanding of God.
When I see this picture I think of God and how he is represented in the beautiful landscape of North Stradbroke Island. I like this photo because it is beautiful and represents the natural beauty of Stradbroke Island. It shows a tea tree leaning over Brown Lake. When I see this photo I think about what an amazing world God made for us. This photo is simple but it really helps me reflect on the world. Brown Lake is very quiet and peaceful it helped me to reflect on my life and think about God.
When I see this picture I think of God and how he is represented in the beautiful landscape of North Stradbroke Island. This goanna is very quiet and sneaks around the forest looking for food. This helps my understanding of God because it shows the beautiful animals he put on this land for us to enjoy. Saint Francis is the saint of animals so this photo helps me reflect on God but also on the saints and how they watch over us and the animals of this world. Goannas are very special and also are important to the aboriginal people. They are symbolized in art work and are special to the island.
When I see this picture I think of God and how he is represented in the beautiful landscape of North Stradbroke Island. This picture shows a tree on Polka Point in Dunwich. A special place for the aboriginal people. This photo shows the natural beauty but also shows how the aboriginal culture influences the land. The aboriginal flag represents the people who founded the island thousands of years ago. When I look at this photo I see how God and the aboriginal people influence each other. Even though aboriginals have several Gods this still represents how my God is found in the land.

I hope you all enjoyed this. LN :)
